Electrospinning as a route to advanced carbon fibre materials for selected low-temperature electrochemical devices: A review

Electrospinning has been proven as a highly versatile fabrication method for producing nano-structured fibres with controllable morphology, of both the themselves and void structure mats. Additionally, it is possible to use heteroatom doped polymers or include catalytic precursors in electrospinning solution control surface properties fibres. These factors make an ideal production electrodes flow media variety electrochemical devices, enabling reduction mass transport activation overpotentials therefore increasing efficiency. Moreover, biomass polymer source recently gained attention ability embed sustainable principles materials complementing their allow increase renewable electricity via application. In this review, historical recent developments electrospun application redox batteries, fuel cells, metal air batteries supercapacitors are thoroughly reviewed, including overview process guide best practice.
